Booklet of Masterplans

Last night we uploaded a booklet of the RMIT masterplan projects.
These can be viewed by clicking on the ‘RMIT Masterplan Ideas’ tab above.

RMIT design excellence award

At the RMIT Architecture end of semester exhibition last night, Dayne Trower was awarded a prize for design excellence for his Wales Street masterplan project. This award is given at the end of each semester to the project which stands out as the best amongst all student work in the last two years of the design studio programs.
Below is an image of Dayne as Elvis Presley, a photomontage created by Tarryn Boden. Tarryn was also in this design studio, and produced an exceptional scheme as well. Reportedly, the two of them were neck and neck in being chosen for the award. Well done to both of them.

Masterplans

The RMIT Architecture students have submitted their design ideas for the School.
We will need some time to collate these and put them up online for the community to see, but this will occur in the next few weeks.

Music and Arts festival additions

At the music and arts festival (25th October) a gathering made many tendrils for the plants to climb.
Thanks in particular to Gaudi, who stayed all day.
I have planted lots of peas now, in addition to the beans, which seem to be thriving better.

growing garden

Gaudi, an RMIT student, and myself extended the bean garden a little on the weekend. More to be done, and we hope to include the making of the climbing tendrils at the coming Festival at Wales Street, so others can get involved.

2nd planting

The first bean planted survived the winds, to my great relief. So, this morning we added some more climbing tendrils which allowed for more to be planted. It’s slow progress, but the garden bed is growing, if struggling to keep ahead of the fast growing pace of climbing beans.
Here’s some pics of where its got to.

first planting

Today we went to the school and, with Adam T, put in the first garden bed module. It still needs lots more climbing tendrils. Very big winds are predicted tonight, so we only planted one to see if it survives the weather. The others are safe in the green plastic tub, inside the tent.

sprout collection

The sprouting bean plants were collected over the last week of school.
Here’s some images of them. We collected around 80, but only about 50 of them survived the transport etc.

tent sprout-house

On Friday we put up a tent near the vege garden. This is for everyone to deliver their bean sprouts, so we can plant them. Let’s hope the tent survives the windy weather!

Sprouting sprouts

Thanks to everyone who has sent us pictures of their lovely sprouts. The ‘Sprouting’ page is jumping with beans sprouting! This is what is looks like today:
